The goods exchange between the countries should increase dramatically by 2015, it was stated at the 20th meeting of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation held on November 5th in New Delhi, press-service of Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade reports.
Deputy Chairman of the government of Russian Federation, Dmitry Rogozin, and First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Gleb Nikitin headed Russian delegation; India was represented by the Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj. Different issues related to economic cooperation between the parties were discussed during the meeting. Last year the goods exchange between Russia and India reached $11 billion. The parties stressed the rapid development of bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of business.
“Special attention is paid to civil aircraft. Indian party is interested in deliveries of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft. The possibility of starting mass production of SSJ 100 in India is being considered in the network of joint project between Russia and India. The Indian party is also interested in deliveries of MS-21 aircraft. The commission also discussed the possibility of participation of Russian specialists in development of light transport aircraft with a payload of 5-7 tons, which is being carried out by Indian engineers,” the Ministry noted.
Moreover, in the network of an offset program Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) is considering the possibility of starting assembly of Ka-226T civil helicopters in India (medevac and police versions). In addition, the possibility of delivering Ka-226 light helicopters to India and starting production of the vehicle in the country is also being considered.
