23 years ago on November 5th 1991 Transaero Airlines performed its first flight. It marked a new page in the history of national civil aviation. The charter flight on a leased aircraft on route Moscow – Tel Aviv proved that the idea of a private airline in our country had materialized, the carrier’s press-service reports.
“Transaero Airlines was based on principles of professionalism and innovations. The fact that the company was created “from scratch” and did not take part in privatization of state property allowed it to combine the world’s best practices with the traditions of the national aviation. The history of Transaero is integral part of the history of new Russia. Together with its country the airline developed, grew stronger and reached new milestones. Transaero appeared to have a very high “safety margin”, which allowed the carrier to overcome all the difficulties, including default in 1998 and global crisis in 2009”, - the airline noted.
“The current year was a difficult one for the whole industry. It was impacted by the economic situation, ruble’s depreciation, political and military instability in different countries of the world and, of course, dramatic events in Ukraine. Despite all these factors, Transaero keeps on developing. Its passenger traffic, passenger and cargo turnover are increasing. The carrier’s IFRS and RAS financial statements show that the company is profitable. The positive trends in its development are evident. The revenues, operating and net profit are increasing (the company’s net profit for the first half of 2014 exceeded 750 million rubles). The company’s profitability is improving and its debts are decreasing as well as selling and administrative expenses. Transaero’s MICEX stock prices grew significantly (+33,6% in 2014). The company’s performance confirms that the new development strategy “Rational growth, focus and efficiency” is being successfully implemented”, - the press-service noted.
Transaero’s well-knit and friendly team comprises 11,000 employees. The atmosphere of mutual respect, kindness and intention to help one’s colleagues are the basis of moral environment formed at the beginning of the company’s history and preserved thanks to several generations of its employees. Transaero Airlines is holding its head high entering its 24th year. All these years it was servicing millions of passengers.
