Vladimir Putin signed the law on establishment of National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”

President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, signed the law on establishment of National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”, which will be responsible for development of aviation science and technologies.

Besides research activities the center will also be responsible for personnel training. The institute will be established in the form of Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE); government of Russia will act as its founder. Among major funding sources are: federal budget, income from implementing projects and exercising intellectual property rights, said in the law.

The Institute will comprise five leading research and development centers: Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky, Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motor Development, State Research Institute of Aviation Systems, Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute named after S.A. Chaplygin and State-owned scientific aircraft systems testing site.

The center’s activities will be controlled by supervisory board comprising 15 members: representatives of the President of Russia, State Duma and the Federation Council, scientists and employees of defense enterprises.

The center should consolidate the scientific and research potential of the state-owned organizations from the segment of aviation science, and integrate the resources used to develop aviation technologies, said in the document.
