Rostec State Corporation is ready to continue dialog with Bombardier (Canada) in case of receiving new offers, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the corporation’s representative. Last week the Canadian airframer decided to put the project for launching assembly of Bombardier Q400 (seating 70-86 passengers) in Russia on hold.
So far Rostec have not come to an agreement with Bombardier in terms of economic parameters of the joint project, including matters related to production of components in Russia and final price of the aircraft, the corporation’s representative noted. He explained that in August Rostec decided to postpone the decision on the project due to these factors. “This decision is not connected with the current political situation, it is motivated only by business interests”, — Rostec’s press-service noted.
However, last week head of Bombardier, Pierre Beaudoin, said during a conference call that the company puts the project on hold “taking into account current political and economic situation in Russia”. Bombardier is going to monitor the situation in Russia over the next few months.
Rostec and Bombardier planned to establish a joint venture in Russia on parity basis and start the assembly of Bombardier Q400 aircraft. CEO of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, said in summer that the State Corporation already has around 50 orders for the liner (orders were placed by Aeroflot, Yakutia Airlines, etc.).
Bombardier (Canada) planned to sell up to 100 Q400 turboprops in Russia in the network of this project. In spring Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that the joint project of Rostec and Bombardier may become unprofitable and may be closed, because Bombardier increased the prices of components.
