Dmitry Medvedev: VEB to consider the possibility of financing the purchase of 16 SSJ100 aircraft

Supervisory Board of VEB will consider the possibility of financing the purchase of 16 SSJ100 aircraft by different airlines, Interfax-AVN reports with reference to Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.

"We will consider the possibility of financing the purchase of 16 Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft by a number of our carriers. The fact that our airlines are purchasing indigenous jets demonstrates the possibilities for development of the national aircraft industry. Moreover, until quite recently our carriers preferred to purchase liners manufactured by foreign companies due to the number of models offered, quality-price ratio and other factors", - he said.

"That is why deals like the one considered here are of great importance for our economy. Besides sanctions imposed against our companies and sectors of our economy, there are other reasons why we should rely on our own technologies and resources and we must develop our high-tech industries", - Medvedev added.

"That is why these contracts for delivery of 16 jets should contribute to development of the national industry", - he noted.
