The Chinese party is interested in joint production of upgraded Il-114, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Dmitry Rogozin, told Interfax-AVN.
"In fact, we are restoring the aircraft using a new technological platform. And Chinese party needs such vehicles", - Rogozin said answering the question about potential joint projects between Russia and China.
According to him, “thus we will be able to launch the second cooperative project”. "This aircraft may carry out patrol missions. Chinese party confirms that it is interested in the vehicle", - Rogozin noted.
He also said that “information and required documentation will be transferred to them” soon.
It was reported earlier that on August 21st 2014 President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, instructed the government, Ministry of Defense, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Privolzhsky to Privolzhsky Federal District (and other organizations involved) to estimate the cost of a project for launching mass production of Il-114 aircraft at Aviacor aviation plant (Samara). The corresponding instruction was posted at the Kremlin’s website.
Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after V.P. Chkalov has manufactured the Il-114 turboprop until 2012. A total of 17 aircraft have been manufactured. According to the management team of Aviacor, the project for starting the mass production of Il-114 in Samara will take around five years and will require from 10 to 12 billion rubles.
