Rostech State Corporation and Diamond Aircraft (Austria) signed an agreement for launching the production of aircraft seating from 9 to 19 passengers in Russia, Rostech’s press-service reports.
The document was signed at the meeting of the Russia and Austria Business Council. According to Vladimir Artyakov, Deputy Director General of Rostec, “the aircraft will be manufactured by the Ural Works of Civil Aviation”.
He also said that this refers to a small batch of aircraft (a few tens of turboprops) intended for domestic market only. The first airlinermay be put into service in 2016.
It was reported earlier that the engines and aircraft will be assembled in Austria at the first stage of the project. At the second stage the production of some components will be launched in Russia. And finally at the third stage all the components and engines will be manufactured in Yekaterinburg.
A memorandum of cooperation between Sozvezdiye concern (Russia) and Frequentis (Austrian manufacturer of civil and military communication and navigation systems) has also been signed, Rostech noted.
