Aviacapital-Service took delivery of first Boeing 737-800NG aircraft intended for Aeroflot

Aviacapital-Service, subsidiary of Russian Technologies State Corporation (Rostech), took delivery of the first Boeing 737-800NG; the jet will be handed over to Aeroflot in accordance with a signed lease agreement, Rostech’s press-service reports. 

The aircraft in Aeroflot livery was delivered to Aviacapital-Service directly from the airframer’s facility in Seattle. This is the first out of 50 Boeing 737 NGs, which will be delivered to Aeroflot under the operating lease agreement by the end of 2017. The contract for delivery of the rest jets should be approved by the general meeting of shareholders scheduled for October 2013.   

The carrier’s Board of Directors approved the agreement on delivery of the first leased aircraft to Aeroflot. The handover ceremony was held in Seattle on September 24th 2013. Representatives of Rostech, Aeroflot and Boeing took part in the ceremony. The procedure assumes checking the compliance of the aircraft performance with the terms of the contract, finalizing the documents and carrying out payment.  

We remind you that Rostech signed an agreement with Boeing in 2010 following the results of an open international tender for delivery of medium-haul aircraft in the network of renewal of fleet of Russian airlines (including Aeroflot). The contract wastransferred to Aviacapital-Service in September 2011. «At present Russian carriers are in need of advanced medium-haul aircraft, - CEO of Aviacapital-Service, Roman Pakhomov noted. – We are interested in all the advanced and innovative projects of the global aircraft industry, which may help us meet the requirements of Russian airlines. Boeing 737 NG has an excellent reputationthanks to its efficiency and reliability. Today it is the best-selling aircraft in the world». 

According to the contract, Aeroflot will take delivery of two more Boeing 737 NG jets in 2013, 5 jets will be delivered to the carrier in 2014, 12 ones - in 2015 and 15 ones - in 2016 and 2017. The value of this operating lease agreement for the period of 12 years is around $3.5 billion. «We appreciate our partnership with Rostech and its confidence in our Next Generation 737-800 and 900ER aircraft. These are the most fuel-efficient single-aisle liners having a great environmental performance», - said Marty Bentrott, Vice President, Sales, Middle East, Russia & Central Asia, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. – These jets will play a key part in modernization of Aeroflot’s fleet and contribute to strengthening the carrier’s positions at regional commercial operations market».
