The 269390 asteroid (2009 QA34) was named after the Russian military pilot, former commander of Russian Knights aerobatic team who died in 2009, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the discoverer of the asteroid, astronomer Leonid Elenin.

"I have been waiting for a long time for this moment. The asteroid was named after Igor Valentinovich Tkachenko, Hero of Russia. There were some problems, because Igor Valentinovich was a military pilot. And you may only use the name of a military man of a politician only 70 years after his death. However, I have achieved my aim", - Leonid Elenin said.

The 269390 asteroid (2009 QA34) of the main asteroid belt was discovered in August 2009. At present it is specified in the database of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory that this asteroid has the following name: Igortkachenko.
