Six An-148 jets operated by Rossiya – Russian Airlines performed about 1000 flights in August. These aircraft have transported over 60 thousand passengers. The monthly flying time of each jet of the type is around 300 hours, VASO’s press-service reports.
«Following the results of August 2013 Rossiya – Russian Airlines has set a new record in terms of passenger traffic. During the abovementioned period over 600 thousand passengers made use of Rossiya’s services - +13,4% as compared to August 2012. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, the passenger traffic of Russian airlines reached 56 361 253 passengers over the 8 months of 2013 (+14.9% as compared to the same period of 2012)», - press-service of VASO noted.
Aircraft manufactured by VASO have also made their contribution to increase of passenger traffic. A total of 14 jets are being operated today. Rossiya – Russian Airlines, Polet Airlines and Angara Airlines are operating a total of 11 passenger An-148 aircraft. Three more special-purpose An-148s are operated by the governmental agencies. One of them, the flying hospital delivered to EMERCOM in April 2013, is already being used for medevac purposes. The geography of its operations spreads from Europe to Siberia. For example, a woman injured during wreck of Polosye-8 motor vessel at Irtish River in the second half of August was transported to Moscow by An-148. The similar medevac operations have been carried out in Greece and Spain earlier, the company’s press-service said.
As of the end of August, the total flying time of 14 An-148s reached 65 thousand hours. The jets have performed over 33 thousand flights with an average duration of 2 hours, the press-service added.
