Russia and Vietnam signed contract for delivery of 12 Su-30MK2 fighters, Lenta.ru reports.
The agreement was reached in mid-August 2013. It is the third contract for delivery of “Su” fighters to Vietnam. The previous two ones have already been implemented.
The amount of this contract was not unveiled, but some sources assess it at $600 million. The fighters will be delivered to the customer in 2014 and 2015. A total of 24 Su-30MK2 fighters have already been delivered to Vietnam during the period since 2004.
The negotiations on delivery of a new batch of Su-30MK2 fighters to Vietnam were being conducted since 2010. It was reported earlier that the Asian country was going to purchase 20 jets of the type. The dates for signing the agreement and start of deliveries have not been specified. Vietnam has purchased 12 Su-30MK2 fighters earlier. The deliveries have been completed in 2012.
