Russian Aviaton » Tuesday August 20, 2013 20:45 MSK

A new world altitude record was set in Crimea. The upgraded Mi-8MSB helicopter powered by TV3-117VMA-SBM1V 4E engines has reached an altitude of 9150 meters and broken the last year’s record, press-service of Motor-Sich reports.

We remind you that this helicopter ascended to the altitude of 8250 meters in September 2012 at Aviasvit-XXI International Airshow held in Kiev.

"The flight was performed by a joint crew comprising pilots of Motor-Sich and State Scientific Research Center of Armed Forces of Ukraine. The record was set at Kirovskoye airfield of the State Scientific Research Center of Armed Forces of Ukraine, located near Feodosiya. The record was established by the representative of International Aeronautical Federation (FAI), Alla Strelnikova", - the company noted.

The replacement of outdated TV2-117 engines with TV3-117VMA-SBM1V 4E ones allows increasing the altitude ceiling and service life of Mi-8T helicopters», - the enterprise noted.
