Russian Helicopters Holding Company has delivered Mi-171А1 helicopter manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant to Atlas Taxi Aereo (Brazil), the holding’s press-service reports.
“This delivery is the result of successful development of partnership between the holding company and the Brazilian operator. Atlas Taxi Aereo highly appreciates the unique operational capabilities of Mi-171A1 helicopters and continues the acquisition of Russian-produced helicopters”, - the company noted.
The Мi-171А1 was certified by Brazilian Aviation Register in 2005. The first Mi-171A1 helicopter was delivered to Brazil the same year; another two ones were delivered to the country in 2011. Mi-171A1 helicopters operated under harsh environmental conditions in order to support the drilling operations carried out by Petrobras oil company in Brazilian rain forests have demonstrated high reliability and efficiency. For instance, the total duration of flights performed by one helicopter during a year of intense operations was over 1,000 hours (about 120 hours per month). During this period the vehicle has transported about 600 tons of cargo (mostly drilling equipment).
Russian Helicopters noted that Atlas Taxi Aereo intends to expand its fleet of Mi-171A1 helicopters in future.
In accordance with the order placed by the Brazilian operator the new Mi-171A1 helicopter was fitted with the T-HUMS system (onboard health and monitoring system) for the first time. The system automatically monitors the status of a wide range of components in real-time mode thus significantly increasing flight safety. “The system also allows switching to the on-condition maintenance, which helps reduce the operating costs and increase the overall efficiency of Atlas Taxi Aereo’s helicopter business. The client is paying special attention to the flight safety because these helicopters are operated in hard-to-reach regions. The T-HUMS systems may also be installed on two previously delivered Мi-171А1s”, - the company explained.
