Yak-130 arrived in Zhukovsky in order to take part in MAKS-2013 airshow

Yak-130 operational trainer in new livery arrived at the airfield of Gromov Flight Research Institute on July 24th 2013 in order to take part in MAKS-2013 airshow, Irkut Corporation reports.

"The ferry flight from the airfield of Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of Irkut Corporation) with two intermediate stops was performed by test pilots of Yakovlev design bureau: Hero of Russia, Roman Taskaev, and Hero of Russia, Oleg Kononenko. This Yak-130 is painted in traditional colors of Yakovlev design bureau: red and white", - the corporation noted.

The first vehicle to be painted in these colors was AIR-2 light aircraft. It performed its maiden flight in 1928. After that the red-white livery with horizontal white stripes on vertical tail became a traditional one for most test aircraft developed by the famous design bureau. Among them are: UT-2 trainer used for training of pilots during Second World War, Yak-18 (Yuri Gagarin performed his first flight on this aircraft) and Yak-52, which gave birth to most of the present Russian pilots.

President of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko, noted that the designers of Yakovlev Design Bureau are keeping their traditions alive and developing their potential, which allows developing the advanced trainer aircraft.
