All the agreements between Syria and Russia related to deliveries of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to the Syrian government remain in force. It was stated by the Vice-Premier of Syria, Qadri Jamil, following the results of a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, ARMS-TASS reports.
"All the agreements between Syria and Russia in the area of arms procurement remain in force", - the Vice-Premier said. "The contracts are being implemented", - Jamil explained.
Speaking of the results of Russia-EU summit at a press-conference held on June 4th 2013, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, addressed the matter of deliveries of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Damascus. He noted that Russia does not want to disrupt the balance of forces in the region. "The contract was signed several years ago. It has not been implemented yet", - thepresident stated.
In late June Sergey Lavrov said: "As for the contract for delivery of S-300s, it is absolutely legal and transparent and it meets the requirements of the international law and Russian legislation". "The contract is being implemented", - the minister noted.
