Russian army took delivery of the latest airborne jamming platforms derived from Mi-8 helicopters, General Designer of systems and EW suites, Deputy Director General of Radioelectronic Technologies Concern, Yuri Maevski, told RIA Novosti.

"The concern delivered the first batch of airborne jamming platforms derived from Mi-8 helicopters fundamentally different from their predecessors (Mi-8PP). These vehicles are able to carry out electronic jamming of detecting and reconnaissance equipment and protect the aircraft from all the air-to-air and surface-to-air guided missiles", — Maevski said.

He did not specify the date of delivery and the number of delivered helicopters due to secrecy reasons.

Speaking of other products, Maevski stated: "There are over 12 types of products, including both aircraft and ground systems. I cannot unveil the details related to their performance, because all the research and development work performed in accordance with the orders placed by the Ministry of Defense is top secret. I can only say that the concern’s enterprises have already launched the serial production of ground systems intended for electronic jamming, reconnaissance and control. The aircraft defense systems for jets and helicopters are also being delivered to the army", — he explained.
