Klimov will develop an engine for Il-112V aircraft

limov company will develop an engine for Il-112V military-transport aircraft, Voenno-promishlenniy courier reports. It was stated by a source close to the military-industrial sector.

«Ilushin company – developer of the aircraft – has already submitted a performance specification for a turboprop engine for Il-112V aircraft to Klimov», - he said.

The source noted that this engine will have more power as compared to the one considered earlier. He reminded that the financing of Il-112 program was ceased in 2010. Consequently the development of TV7-117ST engine intended for Il-112V aircraft was also ceased.

«At present Russian Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of developing a light transport aircraft. Two projects are being considered - Il-112 and An-140T», - the source said.

According to him, in case of selecting the Il-112V aircraft it will require more powerful engine.

The representative of military-industrial sector noted that as of the date of ceasing the development the technical documentation for Il-112V had a degree of completion of about 95%. It was planned to launch the serial production of new military-transport aircraft at Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO).

«At present the production of Il-112V aircraft is not included in the development strategy of VASO», - he said.
