UIA takes delivery of two Boeing 737 NG aircraft

Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) continues the implementation of its fleet renewal program. The carrier took delivery of two Boeing 737 -800 Next Generation aircraft in June 2013, the airline’s press-service reports.

“The jets were delivered to UIA on June 3rd and 17th by AWAS leasing company in accordance with operational leasing agreement. The aircraft have undergone the official registration process in Ukraine and received UR-PSG and UR-PSH tail numbers. Thus, the carrier's fleet comprises 28 Boeing aircraft and 2 Embraer-190 jets”, - the airline noted.

“The long-term development strategy of UIA assumes renewal and expansion of the carrier’s fleet, - Executive vice-president of UIA, Strategy and Development, Evgeny Treskunov, said. - In particular, the whole medium-haul fleet of UIA will be made of Boeing 737 NG aircraft by 2018. UIA will take delivery of five jets during the period from July to November 2013: 2 Boeing 737-900 and 3 Embraer-190”.

UIA is operating Boeing aircraft since 1992. It is the largest operator of Boeing 737 Family aircraft in Central and Eastern Europe. UIA is the only Ukrainian carrier to carry out maintenance of Boeing aircraft by its own efforts.
