The ditching tests of MS-21 aircraft have been completed by TsAGI

The specialists of TsAGI hydro-basin (located alongshore the Korovinsky Creek of the Ivankovsky Reservoir also called “Moscow Sea”) and measurement division completed another stage of ditching tests of MS-21 aircraft. The model of the aircraft was being launched using catapult during testing, TsAGI’s press-service reports.

The tests were carried out in Dubna. The work has been completed in accordance with the order placed by Irkut Corporation.

«At present the specialists are analyzing the data obtained using MIK-1 built-in data recording system and calculating the ditching parameters. The obtained data will be used during further development of MS-21 aircraft», - the press-service noted.

These tests are very important because the characteristics of ditching obtained without experimental studies are considered to be invalid.

The characteristics of ditching have been obtained using catapult for launching the model and MIK-1 built-in data recording system developed by the specialists of TsAGI measurement division. The model was mounted on the floating catapult and then it was launched in ditching mode. A few score of launches have been carried out. The attitude angle and speed of ditching varied. The next stage of testing is scheduled for July 2013, TsAGI noted.
