Russian air forces have started the installation of new command, control and communications system intended for long-range aviation. The system sends targeting data to long-range and strategic bombers (Tu-160, Tu-95 and Tu-22M3), Izvestiya reports.
According to a source close to the General Headquarters of the air forces, the system’s modules will be mounted on the aircraft during scheduled maintenance (several bombers are overhauled annually in proportion with the remaining service life).
Earlier the pilots had to enter the target data in the missile control system manually, but now the data is transferred automatically, the source said.
According to him, the system uses common radio channels and multi-encryption for transmission of messages. That is why the system does not require satellites in order to establish connection with an aircraft. If the connection is lost, the system will be able to restore the message using its fragments. The signal is sent only one way – from headquarters to the aircraft.
Thanks to state-of-the-art data transfer algorithm, which uses multi-encryption, the system is almost invulnerable for the radio frequency interference, a source close to the air forces noted. The enemy will not be able to prevent activation and retargeting of strategic bombers performed prior to the nuclear attack.
