VASO won the order for 15 An-148 aircraft from the Russian Ministry of Defense, RIA Voronezh reports. It was stated by the president of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan. The value of this contract is about $450 million.
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, visited VASO in February and promised to provide state support for the enterprise. According to him, the potential customers for the aircraft are Ministry of the Interior of Russian Federation, EMERCOM and Federal Security Service of RF.
The governor of Voronezh Region wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin in early 2013. He asked the president to make VASO the exclusive supplier of An-148 aircraft to the Ministry of Defense (MoD). After that the MoD will be able to purchase the jets from VASO without holding a tender.
In addition, VASO will be able to sell the jets with a fixed profit of 25%, the agency noted.
Mikhail Pogosyan also discussed the possibility of establishing a technology park at the enterprise’s site and development of production of composite components.
