A new UCAV with a weight of less than 1 ton, which is being developed by Transas, will likely be powered by a foreign produced engine. The UCAV will have a payload of about 250 kg, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the president of Transas Group, Nikolay Lebedev.

"Foreign produced engines have already been certified and operated for some time. They will surely be used to perform certain tasks", — Lebedev said.

Speaking of the UCAV’s payload, the president of Transas said that “it will be about 200 – 250 kg with a full fuel tank”.

In addition, Lebedev said that the program is being implemented as planned - the flight testing and deliveries of the UCAV will be started in accordance with the schedule. "We are performing all the tasks set by the Ministry of Defense. The program is making solid progress", — he said.

The testing of the UCAV is scheduled for 2014 and its serial production should be launched in late 2014.
