Chelyabinsk airport was certified for servicing Boeing 747-400 aircraft

Chelyabinsk International Airport has been certified for servicing Boeing 747-400 aircraft and its modifications, the airport’s press-service reports.

The corresponding instruction was signed by the head of Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexander Neradko, on April 10th 2013.

“One flight performed by Boeing 747-400 aircraft may replace several flights performed by smaller aircraft. That is why there are some special requirements for the ground services. In addition, this aircraft type requires the highest quality of service, durable airfield pavement and special facilities for maintenance and ground servicing of the aircraft”, - the airport noted.

The runway of Chelyabinsk International Airport was put into operation in 2000. The runway was designed for servicing large aircraft such as Boeing 747-400 all along. However, the airport had to carry out technical re-equipment in order to receive the certificate, said in the statement.
