The authorities of Moscow Region are considering the possibility of transporting tourists by helicopters due to serious traffic jams, Interfax reports with reference to the Culture Ministry of Moscow Region.
«At present the air transport is barely used for transporting tourists in the Region, because it is located close to Moscow, the distance between major sights and hotels is not long and the air transport is in poor condition», - the ministry explained adding that thepossibility of transporting tourists by helicopters will be considered.
«In view of increasing tourist traffic and low capacity of the roads, we will consider the possibility of transporting tourists by helicopters to the major sights of the region as well as using Bykovo airport for transporting tourists from other regions», - the press-service noted.
At present most tourists are arriving in the Region from Moscow using their own cars or buses provided by tour operators.
