Cooperation between RAC MiG and India was started 50 years ago

The first MiG-21 fighter was delivered to the Indian Ministry of Defense 50 years ago paving the way for a long-standing partnership between the countries in the area of military-technical cooperation, press-service of RAC MiG reports.

«In view of the anniversary, CEO of Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC MiG), Sergey Korotkov,  presented scaled models of MiG-29K and MiG-29UPG fighters to the Indian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Russia, Mr. Ajai Malhotra», - the corporation noted.

Air Attache of the Indian embassy, Air Commodore Vikram Singh; Navy Attache of the Indian embassy, Commodore Bhave Ajai Vinay; and Deputy Director General of RAC MiG, Mrketing, Mikhail Globenko, have taken part in the meeting held at Indian embassy in Moscow and dedicated to the 50th anniversary of cooperation between the countries.

During the meeting Ajai Malhotra noted that the long-standing partnership with RAC MiG is a good example of efficient military-technical cooperation between Russia and India based on friendly relations between the countries.

Sergey Korotkov noted that Indian air forces always were among the first customers to acquire the most advanced MiG aircraft.

The distinctive feature of the key projects connected with MiG fighters was the consistent development of technology transfer and scientific and industrial cooperation. In particular, MiG-21 and MiG-27 jets have been manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) under a license, said in a statement.  

As noted by the CEO of RAC MiG, the Indian organizations are full participants of the latest projects of the corporation at all stages (for example, MiG-29K/KUB and MiG-29UPG).

«RAC MiG is interested in further expansion of cooperation with Indian governmental, military, scientific and industrial organizations», – Sergey Korotkov stated.
