The share of advanced aircraft in the fleet of Russian air forces will be 70% by 2020

It is planned to purchase about 2000 aircraft in the network of re-equipping of the air forces, thus the  share of advanced aircraft in the fleet of Russian air forces will be 70% by 2020 , Vladimir Putin said during the meeting dedicated to the current state and development prospects of the combat aviation in Russia.

«Unfortunately, at present the share of  advanced aircraft in the fleet of Russian air forces is only 20% », — he noted. According to Vladimir Putin, the enterprises of the aircraft industry must undergo technical upgrading and strengthen their capabilities in the area of human resources and production.

«It is quite understandable that it is hard to increase the output and re-equip the enterprises simultaneously. It is a complex but solvable problem», — Vladimir Putin said. He mentioned  Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association named after V.P. Chkalov (NAPO) as an instance. "It turns out that we are able to solve this problem on other enterprises. I expect such a responsible attitude from all the CEOs of the aircraft industry. The state will provide you with all the necessary support and resources", — the president said.

Vladimir Putin noted that the Ministry of Defense must control the implementation of contracts and deliveries of aircraft to the Russian air forces. "Of course the air forces should be prepared to take the deliveries and assimilate advanced aircraft. We must implement state-of-the-art practices in the area of combat training. We have discussed the matter recently in the network of the last collegium of the Ministry of Defense held in Moscow", — he said.
