Aeroflot put its unique Hub Control Center into service on March 13th 2013. Its primary objective is to coordinate connections for transit passengers and oversee the handling of flights at the Sheremetyevo airport, the carrier’s press-service reports. 

“The Hub Control Centre has been working in “test mode” since December 2012. The center’s specialists are coordinating all the activities of the airline’s ground divisions, control the timing of operations and turnaround time in order to secure the minimum connection times (MCT) for transit passengers. During the period since December 2012 the number of successfully departed transfer passengers with critical MCT has been increased. The labor productivity in the airline has been increased, while the turnaround time has been shortened”, - Aeroflot noted.

The Hub Control Center will allow Aeroflot controlling all the operational procedures at the airport from the single center. The coordination of activities of all the airline’s divisions performing ground handling of aircraft and providing passenger services will be assured thanks to centralization of decision-making process, the carrier explained.

Aeroflot Hub Control Center will also provide substantial savings due to decreasing the number of missed connections and costs connected with delays. For example, decreasing the MCT by 10 minutes will provide additional monthly income of $5 million. Aeroflot has chosen the NetLine/Hub software developed by Lufthansa Systems, a leading global IT services provider for transport and logistics companies. NetLine/Hub solution will increase the efficiency of Aeroflot’s activities and provide decision-making support in the event of disruption of flight schedule or critical connections, the carrier’s press-service noted.
