Eaton Corporation has signed a contract on development of hydraulic systems and equipment for advanced MS-21 commercial aircraft, which is being developed by Irkut Corporation, Eaton’s press-service reports.
Irkut Corporation chose Eaton in 2009 as the preferred supplier of hydraulic systems. Eaton signed a contract on joint definition of the system’s architecture. The new contracts assume the completion of the development, production of the equipment and its post-sales support. While the start of MS-21’s serial production is approaching, the new contracts expand the role of Eaton in development, testing and certification of the liner’s hydraulic system, the airline noted.
«We are glad that Eaton is making this important step together with Irkut Corporation and taking part in the development of MS-21 aircraft, –Stuart Mullan, vice president and general manager of Eaton’s power and motion control division, said. – The Irkut Corporation’s decision is determined by the positive results demonstrated by Eaton at the joint definition of the system’s architecture phase. Having signed the new contract, Eaton will expand its participation in the program demonstrating its capabilities at the Russia’s emerging market».
Eaton will develop hydraulic pumps driven by the engine and pump stations for MS-21. Eaton will also cooperate with Russian and foreign enterprises in order to develop and produce additional components of the hydraulic system, the press-service explained.
