oneworld global alliance (comprising S7 Airlines) announced new benefits for top tier frequent flyers of its member airlines, corresponding to Emerald status, said in the alliance’s statement.
Since midnight of February 1st 2013 the frequent flyers with oneworld Emerald status will be entitled to an extended free baggage allowance, in addition to the standard limit for the cabin class in which they are traveling - either one additional piece of luggage or extra 20 kg allowed depending on the rules of an airline. They will also be able to use fast track lanes through the preflight inspection at the key airports of the world. All these benefits apply on flights performed by oneworld member airlines.
CEO of oneworld Bruce Ashby said: «oneworld aims to be the best alliance for regular international travelers. We believe that out benefits for the frequent flyers are the best among all the aviation alliances. We are trying to provide our passengers with the highest level of service quality while travelling outside the route network of their base airline".
The introduction of the new benefits coincided with the addition of one of Asia's leading carriers, Malaysia Airlines, to oneworld alliance. Since midnight February 1st 2013 two million members of its Enrich loyalty programme will be entitled to use oneworld's frequent flyer benefits while flying with any of oneworld’s member airlines - airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, Qantas, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines and around 30 affiliated airlines - to any of the 850 destinations served by the alliance, oneworld noted.
At the same time about 125 million members of oneworld frequent flyer program will be able to collect mileage and receive award tickets on flights performed by Malaysia Airlines.
