Recently the decision for participation of Aviastar-SP in a new project was taken, the press-service of the government of Ulyanovsk Region reports with reference to the Vildan Zinnurov, aviation counselor of the governor of Ulyanovsk Region (Sergey Morozov).
«The Ministry of Defense (MoD) plans to put Il-112 into service. It is a light military-transport aircraft intended for transportation and airlift delivery of light weapons, vehicles, cargo and troops. Il-112 has lower weight-lift ability as compared to Il-76. Aviastar-SP will act as the manufacturer of fuselage panels and other airframe components. The final assembly will be carried out in Voronezh. This year the Ulyanovsk-based aviation plant started the preparation for Il-112 production. The most advanced high-precision multi-role equipment is being purchased from Japan, France and USA. At present the enterprise’s staff comprises 9000 people», - Vildan Zinnurov said.
The region’s government reminded that “a number of advanced projects are being implemented in Ulyanovsk Region. The core project is manufacturing of Il-76MD-90A aircraft».
«The largest contract with the MoD for delivery of 39 advanced transport aircraft was signed a year ago. At present the enterprise is manufacturing these jets. The final assembly of the first transport aircraft is in progress. The airframe of the second jet has been assembled and at present it is being fitted with aircraft systems. The third one is being fitted with different units and components. Two serial Il-76MD-90A jets should be delivered to the customer next year. A total of about 10 aircraft are in production, including the first tanker», - Vildan Zinnurov noted.
The enterprise’s another important project is the upgrade of An-124-100 aircraft in the network of a contract with the MoD. Two jets have already been handed over to the customer this year. The third one should be delivered to the MoD soon.
Among other promising areas of activity are “certification testing of new Tu-204SM jets, along with participation in development of MS-21 aircraft and production of Sukhoi Superjet 100”.
