Soyuz launch vehicle with Olympic Torch was launched from Baikonur cosmodrome

Soyuz-FG launch vehicle with Soyuz TMA-11M transport manned spacecraft was successfully launched from the first launch pad of Baikonur cosmodrome at 08:14 (Moscow time), press-service of the Federal Space Agency reports.

Soyuz TMA-11M spacecraft separated from the third stage of the launch vehicle at 08:23 on the artificial satellite orbit. The crew of 38/39 mission on the ISS comprises: commander Mikhail Tyurin (Roscosmos), Rick Mastracchio (NASA) and Koichi Wakata (JAXA). The crew’s call sign is “Vostok”. The further approach and docking of Soyuz TMA-11M spacecraft with ISS will be carried out using the spacecraft’s powerplant.

Four-orbit rendezvous procedure (the crew of Soyuz TMA-08M were the first ones to use this procedure on March 29th 2013) was used during placing the Soyuz TMA-11M into orbit and docking process. The spacecraft docked with the ISS on November 7th 2013 at 14:31 (Moscow time), the press-service noted.
