The latest combat helicopters delivered to an airbase located in Krasnodar Krai have taken part in a range practice, RIA Novosti reports with reference to a press-service of the Southern military district (SMD). The fleet of the airbase of SMD was renewed by 80% in 2013.
"The air base took delivery of over 10 combat helicopters having a unique aircraft performance and combat capabilities. The first joint range practice with the participation of Mi-35M and Mi-28N helicopters has been carried out", — said in the SMD’s statement.
The new vehicles are fitted with a satellite navigation system, which allows locating the helicopter and approaching a target at a set time. Moreover, the helicopter is equipped with an IR imager allowing the crew to find and eliminate ground targets under low light conditions.
Mi-35M (derived from Mi-24) is intended for elimination of armored vehicles, provision of fire support for ground units and landing troops, medevac operations and transportation of cargo inside the cabin or using an external sling. The helicopter is equipped with a coaxial cannon and high-precision anti-tank missiles.
Mi-28N “Night Hunter” is intended for detection and elimination of tanks, armored and unarmored vehicles, troops and low-speed air targets under any lighting and weather conditions.
