The first prototype of a tanker aircraft derived from Il-76MD-90A will be manufactured by 2015

Ulyanovsk-based Aviastar-SP in cooperation with Ilyushin Company will assembly the first prototype of a tanker aircraft derived from Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft by 2015, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Chief Technical Officer of Aviastar-SP, Viktor Kulakov.

"Our enterprise in cooperation with Ilyushin design bureau must manufacture the first prototype of the tanker by 2015", - Viktor Kulakov said. According to him, at present Ilyushin Company is elaborating documentation for the tanker aircraft in the network of a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).

Viktor Kulakov added that a civil version of Il-76MD-90A will be developed in future. At present the enterprise is implementing the contract for delivery of 39 Il-76MD-90A jets signed with the MoD in October 2012.
