President of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan, said earlier that Russia is developing a UCAV with a takeoff weight of about 20 tons using technical solutions implemented during development of T-50 fifth-generation fighter.
"The UCAV with a takeoff weight of 20 tons developed by Sukhoi Company should be ready by 2018. The UCAV (takeoff weight – 5 tons) developed by Sokol should be ready by 2015 — 2016", — the source said. He reminded that Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, demanded to add urgency to the development of the UCAVs last summer.
