The fifth T-50 (PAK FA) prototype performed its maiden flight from the airfield of Sukhoi Company Branch – KNAAZ named after Y.A. Gagarin (Komsomolsk-on-Amur), press-service of Sukhoi Company reports.
«The jet was piloted by the Honored Class 1 pilot, Roman Kondratyev. The duration of flight was 50 minutes. The flight was completed successfully in accordance with the flight assignment. The aircraft’s stability was assessed during the flight and the functionality of all the aircraft systems and powerplant was checked. The aircraft performed well on all the flight stages. The pilot confirmed the reliable performance of all the aircraft systems and equipment», - the company noted.
After completion of a series of test flights in Komsomolsk the jet will join the four PAK FA prototypes already taking part in the flight testing carried out in Zhukovsky (Moscow Region). Two more jets are undergoing ground tests – one of them is used as a ground rig and the second one is involved in static tests.
We remind you that the maiden flight of the first PAK FA prototype was performed on January 29th 2010 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. At present ground and flight testing is underway. Over 450 flights have already been performed in the network of the flight test program.
