Russia will implement the contract for delivery of 12 Mi-35M helicopters to Brazil signed in 2008 by the end of 2013, Prime reports with reference to the Director of Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin.
"At present we are carrying out the acceptance of the final fourth batch of these helicopters" – Fomin said.
9 Mi-35M helicopters (called AH-2 Saber in Brazil) have already been delivered to the customer. The rest three vehicles should have been delivered to Brazil in the first half of 2013. However, according to Fomin, there was a delay connected with “technical issues”.
"We are resolving these issues and hope to complete the acceptance procedure soon. Depending on the pace of acceptance the deliveries will be completed in late 2013 or early 2014", - he said.
The delays took place on all the stages of contract implementation. Initially all 12 vehicles should have been delivered to the customer by the end of 2011. It was reported that delivery of last batch was postponed by the Brazilian party.
Fomin told the journalists at LAAD-2013 held in Rio de Janeiro in April that the rest 3 vehicles are undergoing acceptance procedure and will be delivered to Brazil in autumn.
The total value of the contract signed in 2008 is $150 million.
Mi-35 helicopter is the upgraded version of Mi-24.
