The government of Thailand approved the budget for 2013-2015, which includes funds intended for purchase of six UH-72A Lakota and two Mi-17V-5 helicopters (the value of these contract is $55 and $40 million respectively), Vzglyad.ru reports.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the approval of Thailand’s budget for 2013-2015 allows them to purchase the vehicles as soon as possible. The helicopters will be operated in border districts and in the southern part of the country for counterinsurgency operations.
