The air forces of Ghanna took delivery of four Mi-171Sh helicopters, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Director of Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (CAWAT), Igor Korotchenko.
"The president of Ghanna, John Dramani Mahama, took part in the solemn ceremony held on January 5th 2013 dedicated to the delivery of four new combat-transport Mi-171Sh helicopters to the air forces of Ghanna", - he said.
Igor Korotchenko reminded that Rosoboronexport signed a contract on delivery of six Mi-17 helicopters to Ghanna in 2012. The vehicles will be delivered in batches comprising two helicopters. Deputy Director General of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, confirmed this information in September.
According to the Director of CAWAT, Ghanna expressed its interest in purchasing additional Mi-171Sh helicopters in November 2011. At that time the government has submitted to the parliament’s approval a project for acquisition of four helicopters with a total value of over €64. The acquisition of two more helicopters was approved in July 2012. The first four Mi-17V5 helicopters were ordered by the Ministry of Defense of Ghanna in 2004 and delivered to the customer in December 2005.
At present Mi-171Sh is one of the most popular medium military-transport helicopters in the world. Itoffershighoperationalflexibi
