Russia and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement on establishing an integrated air defense system

Russian Minister of Defense, Sergey Shoygu, and Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Adilbek Dzhaksibekov, have signed anagreement on establishing an integrated regional air defense system, government of Kazakhstan reports.

This document will form the basis for protection of air space of Russia and Kazakhstan.

The agreement was signed following the results of negotiations between Adilbek Dzhaksibekov and Sergey Shoygu, who is on his first official visit to Kazakhstan.
The parties have also discussed problems related to bilateral military and military-technical partnership, some aspects of operation of Russian proving grounds located in Kazakhstan and further cooperation in the area of military education.

At the end of the meeting Adilbek Dzhaksibekov and Sergey Shoygu noted that Russian-Kazakh military cooperation is the strategic one and it is aimed at not only provision of safety and stability in Russia and Kazakhstan, but also at peacekeeping in the region.

According to Adilbek Dzhaksibekov, Russia is the Kazakhstan’s most important strategic partner not only because of historical and geopolitical factors, but also due to shared sense of problems in the area of provision of regional and international safety.
