Aeroflot is among top-30 carriers of the world by the offered capacity

Aeroflot – Russian Airlines is among top-30 carriers of the world by the offered capacity. Moreover, following the results of 2012 the Russian carrier has strengthened its positions in the top-30. This fact is confirmed by the international rating made by the Innovata Company – the global leader in the area of information products including the most complete data on schedules of the world air transport, Aeroflot’s press-service reports.

"The airlines have been assessed by the maximum passenger turnover, which is calculated by multiplying the number of offered seats by the flight distance. This indicator serves as the analogue of production capacity in aviation. According to the provided statistics, the Aeroflot’s weekly value of this indicator was 1.2 million seat-kilometers in 2012 (+20% as compared to 2011). Thus, Aeroflot has strengthened its position in the top-30 and reached the 27th place (29th place last year). The maximum passenger turnover reflects not only the current status of the carrier but also its potential – the traffic volume achieved under the optimal conditions", - the airline explained.

Commenting on the trends of 2012 reflected in the rating, the respected САРА aviation center noted that the global aviation alliances are increasing their capacities faster than the world industry. SkyTeam alliance has demonstrated the fastest growth.

Aeroflot is the only Russian airline in the top-30 carriers of the world by the offered capacity. The Russia’s leading airline is going to significantly expand and renew its fleet. Aeroflot intends to acquire Boeing 777 and 737, Airbus 320 and 321 aircraft in 2013. The carrier also plans to renew the fleets of some airlines forming part of Aeroflot Group, the airline stated.
