The instructor and research squadron of the Russian air forces took delivery of new Mi-8AMTSh helicopters

The instructor and research squadron of the Russian air forces deployed in Klin (Moscow Region) took delivery of 3 new Mi-8AMTSh helicopters, press-service of the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) reports.

«The Mi-8AMTSh helicopters have been manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. They have performed ferry flight to Klin covering the distance of about 5000 km with intermediate stops», - the MoD noted.

Mi-8AMTSh is the armed transport helicopter derived from Mi-8. The vehicle is equipped with armored cockpit and remotely-operated machine gun PKT, covering the rear-hemisphere. As for the mounted weapons, there are anti-tank guided “Ataka” and “Shturm” missiles and the guided air-to-air “Igla” missiles. Mi-8AMTSh was named “Terminator” at the Farnborough-99 airshow.

The instructor and research squadron deployed in Klin is part of Torzhok-based Combat Employment and Retraining Center. It is carrying out the research work using latest aircraft. ItsfleetincludesMi-8 andMi-24 helicopters.
