The next-generation strategic bomber (PAK DA) developed for Russian air forces will be hypersonic, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Dmitry Rogozin.

"I believe that we should choose the path of hypersonic technologies and we are moving in this direction not falling behind USA. And we will employ this technologies during development of the new bomber", - Rogozin said in a live television broadcast of “Russia 24” channel.

According to him, Russia needs the long-range aviation, but “the thing is whether we copy America’s the 40-years old experience and create B-2…or choose the advanced technologies and look beyond the horizon to see, which vehicle would be able to break through anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic missile defenses and deliver its cargo to any aggressor".

Commander-in-Chief of the Russian long-range aviation, General Lieutenant Anatoly Zhikharev, stated earlier that the first PAK DA bombers will be delivered to the air forces in 2020 and now its development is advancing to the stage of research and development work.
