Transaero’s aircraft equipped with a system providing in-flight high-speed internet and mobile services performed the first regular flight

Transaero provided its passengers with in-flight high-speed broadband internet access and mobile services for the first time on board of flight UN123/124 (Moscow-Vladivostok-Moscow) on August 27th-28th 2012. The passengers, whose personal devices are capable of connecting to Wi-Fi network, were able to use the new service, the airline’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

In order to gain internet access the passenger should turn on its device after ascend. The system will suggest choosing “Transaero” network. After that the home page will be loaded automatically. Then you may choose options of the service in the menu and pay for it with a bank card. The price of unlimited Internet access is 800 rubles and the price of one hour is 400 rubles, the airline explained.

At present two Transaero’s aircraft are fitted with the satellite equipment providing Internet access: Boeing 777-300 and Boeing 747-400. Other jets of the types are currently being equipped with similar system.

Transaero has chosen Panasonic Avionics as the supplier of high-speed broadband satellite internet system. The internet provider is T-mobile. As for mobile services, they are provided by AeroMobile. The passenger pays for the service in accordance with international roaming tariff of his mobile operator.

Transaero was elected the best airline of Eastern Europe in 2012. It was awarded with World Airline Awards prize by Skytrax.

The company also won the prize in the Airline Market Leadership category of ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards in 2012.
