The docking of Progress M-16M cargo spacecraft with International Space Station (ISS) has been performed on August 2nd 2012 at 5.18 Moscow time, the press-service of Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) reports. AEX.ru
“The cargo spacecraft has docked with “Pirs” docking compartment. The rendezvous procedure has been performed in automatic mode under control of specialists from Mission Control Center of TSNIIMASH and Russian members of the ISS’ crew: Gennady Padalka, Sergey Revin and Yuri Malenchenko”, - said in the agency’s statement.
The spacecraft has delivered different cargo, necessary for maintenance of ISS manned flight and implementation of scientific on-board applied research: fuel, oxygen, water, equipment for scientific studies and experiments (Vizir, MATI-75, Relaksatsiya, SLS, Vektor-T, Tipologiya, Aseptic, Zhenshen-2, Kaskad, Biodegradatsiya, Kulonovsky Kristall), equipment for Russian and American segments, medical equipment, containers with food, medical equipment, expendable equipment, etc.
The total weight of delivered cargo was 2639 kg.
The crew of 32/33 long duration mission is currently working at the ISS. The crew is formed by commander Gennady Padalka (Roscosmos), onboard engineers Sergey Revin (Roscosmos), Yuri Malenchenko (Roscosmos), astronauts Joseph Acaba (NASA), Sanita Williams (NASA) and Akikhiko Khoshide (JAXA). This was the third launch of cargo spacecraft in 2012. The previous ones were performed on January 26th (Progress M-14M) and April 20th (Progress M-15M), Roscosmos noted.
