Russia is at the cusp of signing a large contract in the area of aircraft industry

Vice-premier, Dmitry Rogozin, declared at the opening of International Air Transport Forum (IATF-2012) in Ulyanovsk that Russian aircraft industry is one step away from signing a large contract. AEX.ru

According to analysts, the contract is connected with manufacturing of new Il-476 military transport aircraft by Ulyanovsk-based Aviastar. At present the first prototype of the vehicle is being assembled in Ulyanovsk.

According to some sources, the contract may be signed right after the maiden flight of Il-476. The potential customer is one of the Asian countries.

We remind you that Il-476 is the modernization of Il-76MD aircraft. It is designated as Il-76MD-90A. The aircraft has strengthened wing intended for maximum takeoff weight of 210 tons, and modernized landing gear. It is equipped with PS-90A-76 engines and digital avionics. The payload of Il-476 has been increased from 50 tо 60 tons. The crew of the advanced transport jet includes six members.
