The first stage of certification of fifth-generation PD-14 engine’s production will be held by Perm Engine Company on August 22nd-23rd 2012. The serial production of the engine will be launched by Perm Engine Company in 2016, the enterprise’s press-service reports. According to the signed contract with Bureau Veritas, a group of auditors will assess the enterprise’s preparedness for certification in accordance with the declared subject. The second stage of the certification will be held in December 2012. The enterprise must be certified in accordance with a plan for development of PD-14 engine and terms of contract with Irkut Corporation (developer of МС-21 aircraft) on delivery of the engines. Production of first PD-14 engines was started by Perm Engine Company in 2010. The enterprise manufactured several kits for engine cores and engine prototypes, which are being assembled and tested by Aviadvigatel. Perm Engine Company is assimilating more and more parts and components of the engine. As a result, it will be manufacturing nearly all the parts of the engine core, assembling and testing the engines by 2015. The enterprise will also be responsible for maintenance and regular overhaul of PD-14 engines.

Audits carried out by certification bodies allow finding out and eliminating shortcomings, along with rearranging the manufacturing process. It is important to arrange the production of new advanced engine in accordance with requirements of the quality standards. It should increase the engine’s competitive ability at domestic and international market".
