Domodedovo argued against consolidation of Moscow airports

President Vladimir Putin signed the scheme for consolidation of Moscow Air Cluster’s assets. At that only Domodedovo’s administration expressed its dissatisfaction with the method of consolidation, Lenta.ru reports with reference to Vedomosti.

It is assumed to create a unified company on the basis of federal property – ground infrastructure and equities of the airports. In this case the terminals of state-owned Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo will be consolidated with all three airfields, while the private Domodedovo will have to take the airfield on lease from its new rival.

COO of Domodedovo, Denis Nuzhdin, has addressed letters to Deputy Minister of economic development, Oleg Savelyev, and presidential aide, Elvira Nabiullina. According to him, consolidation of the airports into unified state company needs some adjustments.

Nuzhdin noted that, in particular, the officials repose on conservative forecast of passenger traffic increase. Such situation may cause the traffic standstill, especially provided that Federal Air Transport Agency is “sabotaging” the construction of new runway in Domodedovo. It should have been started in June, but the work is still to be launched. The construction of additional runway in Sheremetyevo will be completed in 2018.

Nuzhdin also imparted his apprehensions concerning possible discrimination in the area of financing caused by integration of Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo into the state company in full, while Domodedovo would be integrated apart from the terminal. In addition, the airport competition will cease to be.

At the same time, administration of Vnukovo believes that the airports’ capacity is much higher than the one specified by Domodedovo. The creation of united company will produce a lot of money for the federal budget.

Vladimir Putin suggested the consolidation of Moscow airports (Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo at first) in March 2011. The decision on creation of the unified managing company for them was taken in April 2012.
