The passenger traffic of Transaero increased by 25.8% in the first half of 2012

Transaero finalized the results of its activities during the first half of 2012. The results demonstrate significant growth of the carrier’s operational and financial indicators, the airline’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

The passenger turnover of Transaero in the first half of 2012 was 17,98 billion passenger-kilometers (+25.6% as compared to the first half of 2011). The number of transported passengers was 4.33 million (+ 25.8%). 27.3 thousand tons of cargo have been delivered during the period (+ 29.2%). The ton-kilometers was 1,755 billion tons-kilometers (+ 24.5%).

The number of transported passengers has exceeded 1 million ones in June for the first time in the carrier’s history. Earlier the airline has only reached such passenger traffic in July and August.

Transaero registered in St. Petersburg has been constantly increasing its passenger traffic at Pulkovo airport. The carrier’s passenger traffic at St. Petersburg airport has increased by 210% in the first half of 2012 as compared to the same period of 2011.

Transaero has acquired 14 aircraft in the first half of 2012. The carrier has signed firm contracts on delivery of Sukhoi Superjet 100, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A 380 jets.

The airline started performing domestic and international flights from Vnukovo airport in the first half of 2012 and now Transaero is performing flights from all the airports of Moscow Air Cluster.

Transaero also launched some new services from Moscow and other cities of Russia, for example, regular flights from Moscow to Los Angeles, Rome, Milan, Venice and Yerevan; from St. Petersburg - to Rome and Milan. Transaero became the appointed regular carrier of Russia on route Moscow - Paris.

Transaero has demonstrated high financial results in the first half of 2012. The airline’s revenues were 41,5 billion rubles (+29,6% as compared to the first half of 2011). Thecarrier’snetprofitwas159,7 millionrubles (+40,5%).

Commenting the results of the first six months of 2012, CEO of Transaero, Olga Pleshakova, said: «The significant increase of the company’s operational and financial indicators and stable development of the airline with the pace higher than industry average one are the clear evidence of successful implementation of the company’s strategy. The achieved results are undoubted merit of our high-skilled personnel. I would also like to thank our passengers for choosing Transaero».

Transaero performed its first flight on November 5th 1991.

It is the Russia’s second largest carrier. Transaero is among 15 safest airlines of the world and one of the 5 safest European carriers.

It is the laureate of ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards in the “Airline Market Leadership” category.

The airline has the largest fleet of long-haul wide-body aircraft in Russia, CIS Region and Eastern Europe. At present its fleet includes 90 aircraft: 21 Boeing-747s, 13 Boeing-777s, 15 Boeing-767s, 38 Boeing-737s and 3 Tu-214s.

Its route network includes over 160 destinations in Russia, Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
