The first prototype of Il-76MD-90A aircraft was delivered to the flight-test center from the Ulyanovsk aviation plant. The work on mounting the aircraft systems and equipment have been completed and then the jet has left the enterprise, press-service of the government of Ulyanovsk Region and steering committee of International Airtransport Forum – 2012 (IATF-2012) reports. «The prototype was equipped with four engines manufactured by Perm Engine Company. The cockpit is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. The development of hydraulic system, wing-flap system and aircraft control system has been completed», - said in the statement.

«It is a great milestone for our enterprise. Il-76-MD-90А is the future of Aviastar. Il-76 joins the Tu-204 and An-124 aircraft families previously manufactured by the plant», - CEO of Aviastar-SP, Sergey Dementyev, noted.

As noted by the Chairman of the Ulyanovsk Region’s government, Vildan Zinnurov, this unmatched project embodies the prospects of our aircraft industry. «The implementation of project for production of upgraded Il-76MD-90A will help develop Aviastar and provide orders for more than 70 other enterprises of the aviation sector. We will also continue the implementation of training and housing programs intended for the enterprise’s personnel. That is why I bindingly declare that this project is very important not only for our region but also for the whole country. It will affect the region’s economy and attract new contracts», - Vildan Zinnurov said.

Chief Designer of Ilyushin Company, Andrey Yurasov, said that this jet resembles its predecessor, but it has brand-new equipment. «The weight-lift ability and maximum takeoff weight have been increased. The jet has state-of-the-art navigation system. The technologies of “glass cockpit” and “digital craft” were implemented for the first time in the history of this aircraft type. New equipment allows operation of the jet in every country of the world and meets the requirements of ICAO, Eurocontrol along with some future standards», - Andrey Yurasov noted.

After completion of all the ground tests carried out at the territory of the flight-test center, Il-76MD-90A will perform its maiden flight.

The whole product line of aircraft manufactured by Aviastar-SP will be presented at IATF-2012 forum in Ulyanovsk in August.
