It is planned to permit passengers to take water on board of the aircraft since September 2012. The reconsideration of regulatory documents is already in progress, Rossiyskaya gazeta reports.
Now the passengers will be able to carry water containers with a volume of more than 100 ml in hang-luggage. Special equipment enabling remote identification of liquid content will be installed at the airports.
It is also possible that taking shampoos and beverages with an alcoholic content below 40% on board will also be permitted in future.
The equipment, which is able to detect flammable and explosive components, will help perform remote express analysis of fluids. You just need to hold the container to the equipment’s indicator. At that, the container should be made of glass or plastic and the thickness of its walls must not exceed 8 mm. At first the changes are only about water. Flammable and alcohol-based fluids along with liquids in metal containers must still be parked in the baggage.
We remind you that limitations on carrying fluids in a hand-luggage were implemented after a series of attempted terrorist attacks with usage of “liquid bombs” prevented by the British secret services in 2006. From that moment on it is allowed to carry in hand-luggage only containers with a volume of less than 100 ml, which must be packed in a transparent plastic bag. These limitations do not apply to infant’s food and medicines. These rules are working at the airports of all countries, including Russia.
The passengers of Russian airports don’t have to take off their shoes during inspection anymore. It was stated in the order of the Ministry of Transport regarding making changes in the “Rules of pre-flight and post-flight inspection”. As stated in the document, the passenger does not need to take off the shoes “with heel elevation less than 2.5 cm and sole thickness of under 1 cm".
